I'm the last planks to bending, stretching and let dry. I have soon namely no room to lock them and let them dry. Once the last shelf is dry, I can secure the last four planks on the hull.

 So this gives some extra time to mill the Steps. I took a few pictures with a figure (1:48) there, showing how big these steps are in reality.

 In between, I signed the exact place for the Steps with a plumb line on the keelson. If the latter are provided with Steps of the hole where the pin, will be placed in at the bottom, of the mast.

Next week will be the last stage and the Steps, including brass pins, places.

The front part is, in a small corner after nearly closed. Because in this corner only thick boards come to lay, it is slightly slower. This way I can already set to work on the Steps, these give quite a few millwork.

 Because they are placed on the keelson, I make the Steps of Holm Oak Wood. This afternoon I milled first three rectangular blocks, then I milled the shapes of the Main Mast Step. This is slightly tilted backwards, so that the mast, which also leans back, crosses right in step.

It is therefore by working quietly in the coming days to the last stage and the milling of the Steps.

The rear part of the hold is closed and ready. Now only to close the front part and then the hull can out the mold. 
 
Meanwhile, I'm going to draw the "Steps". This weeken I photograph the drawings and items and post them here

Today I got a call from the back office to ask why the backend still just not in the picture. Now Klaas know I'm still not satisfied with the rear section of the rafters, I have also been a few months ago, declared in a topic. at


Now everyone should know that not everything is perfect, I have therefore today took some extra pictures of the back (see the bottom row). Now it is almost impossible to work in the corners, so I work the planking as closely as possible to the rear. I gave all afternoon with Klaas that you later still nothing to see because there is a wooden partition to come ... see middle photo and the right photo of Vic from Alexandru.

For now, I'm on schedule and the hull can from the mold by the end of the year.

In the last week I 's build by evenings. There are plenty of shelves added, especially at the rear. It is quite puzzling with the boards. In the middle are several series of thin and thick planks. At the bow and the rear side is composed mostly of thick boards. Provisional everything goes smoothly

The boarding of the hold is progressing. Most of the work is in the curvatures of the bow and the rear. It requires a lot of puzzling to keep the roundness good. There are so many boards rejuvenated.

If I look at the current schedule, I hope to be ready late this year as well, and then they can be removed from the mold.

Last week I completed my stock shelves for the hold again, there is a large amount of wood in the hold. Most of the work now lies in the curves of the bow and the stern.

I am, in spite of the hot weather, though a little further. There are often people in my workshop to see the Vic. Especially for those who do not know the ship, it is difficult to estimate. Often Batavia is achieved at to compare her there, but that is not at all comparable.

So I found a few miniatures, which also have scale 1:48. I've gotten this week in and immediately took some pictures with them in and with the ship. Immediately gives a different picture. This afternoon I had the first one who was surprised at the size of Vic.

A few pictures of the latest situation. I work from the bottom and top to the middle. Everything is still lightly sanded, because I doubt even a little on the amount of sanding. Normally I work all slippery off, but I also want truthful build the ship, the hold is not finished where everything slippery. I will again look at the pictures of Uncle John.

In the past week I have been working quietly to the hold. I must confess that the boarding inside is a bit more difficult than the outside. In particular, the hollow curves give extra work. The shelves must be there namely pressed and then be retained. In addition, these shelves can not be compared with the wooden slats in a kit. The thinnest shelf is 2.3 mm, and the thickest is 4.3 mm with a width of 5.8 to 6.2 mm

 

Not everything succeeds with my specially made clips and I have already tried everything. I use now tyraps and actually this works well to secure the shelf in the concave curve. I have now ordered a big load tyraps with my son in law.

On the starboard side of the keel I have now reached the edge of the open area. The frames stabbing here and there a bit off, it later made exactly equal to the planking.

It's a lot of work, but relieved fun to do.....tomorrow more

I could not do much last week because I trained three days in Weeze. This morning I again started production. I now work in various places in the hold. The riders progressing steadily. When a rider is placed, i Strengthen him directly, either by placing under a few shelves.

 I let theriders usually more than one day, stretched, sitting against the rafters. In the meantime, I grease them 5 times with diluted woodglue. This milkglue attracts the beam and ensures that the curves there are in the stay. Thus, I need them later not to tension once and they always fit.

 Meanwhile, the boards are also placed at the keel. There is therefore now being firmly on all sides in the hold
